Why are you engaged with the Goldfarb Center?

As a first year, I found myself drawn to many of the events hosted by the Goldfarb Center, including the talk with Ibram Kendi and the Debate Watch parties. Once I learned about the club behind these events, I knew I wanted to become more involved. 

What do you think is the most interesting thing happening right now in public affairs?

I am especially interested in the role of religious fundamentalism in government and human rights. Today, we can see this erupting in the overturn of Roe V. Wade and Iran’s current oppression of free speech and women’s rights.

What does leadership mean to you as someone on the Goldfarb Student Executive Board? 

As a member of the Goldfarb Student Executive Board, leadership means creating an open and compelling space to encourage accessible, complex, and productive political conversations among Colby students of all backgrounds. 

I am most excited to plan student events surrounding the upcoming midterm elections and women’s health care discrepancies internationally. I’m also looking forward to meeting proponents of national social justice and policy initiatives.
