The Goldfarb Center hosted a conversation with Annie Pforzheimer, a recently retired U.S. diplomat who served as deputy chief of mission in Afghanistan, and John Turner, Associate Professor of History and Department Chair at Colby College. Kimberly Flowers, Executive Director of the Goldfarb Center, moderated the dialogue.

Nearly 100 Colby students, faculty, and staff came together in person for the talk, which covered the complex relationship between the United States and Afghanistan, the political and military realities of withdrawing troops, and the expected future of the Afghan people under Taliban rule. The speakers displayed how to respectfully disagree on serious issues. There was significant time for audience questions, which ranged from understanding presidential decision-making to the plight of Afghan women.
